Our client, leading Shooting Sports and Outdoor Lifestyle Company, is seeking a CEO to join their growing team in their new Dallas offices.

 

Position Summary

The CEO will have full P&L responsibility and will be accountable for the organization’s leadership, operations, growth, and strategic planning. The CEO will work with the Chairman to set the vision, strategies, and performance goals, and provide the leadership to profitably execute our mission to be the leading firearms and outdoor lifestyle manufacturer in the US.

The CEO will exhibit a strong grasp of the economic, industry, and competitive landscape and position the company to scale accordingly. They will be focused on enhancing operations by developing and leading an organization committed to superior quality, product innovation, and market expansion.

The CEO will provide oversight to drive accountability for all of the various functions enabling the organization to thrive. This will include, but is not limited to, sales and marketing, corporate development, product development, finance, operations, information technology, and human resources. The CEO will work closely with the Chairman to provide regular, timely information regarding the performance of the Company and how the business is progressing towards strategic goals & objectives and any relevant issue(s) resolution. The CEO will be a key spokesperson for the Company both internally and externally including to the board.

The CEO will be responsible for building and developing a strong executive team that has the talent, energy, and foresight to lead the Company to achieve profitability and growth potential. This position reports to the Chairman of the Board.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Refine and develop the vision for the Company and execute on an actionable strategy. Account for changes in customer needs, the competitive environment, and regulations.
  • Communicate and drive a clear and compelling vision for the current organization; motivate and inspire the team to achieve the company mission.
  • Build a high-performing, winning organization and Leadership Team by rapidly assessing existing talent and upgrading as necessary; recruit key talent and transform legacy cultures; align organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities to execute on the strategy; eliminate redundancies or inefficiencies present in the current organization.
  • Craft a plan for maximizing sales and driving brand recognition. Win new customers across sales channels and grow within existing customers. Examine expansion into new product categories, new end markets, and geographies.
  • Institutionalize the business to allow for scale and increased production, including through the use of IT Systems, data-driven metrics, and world-class processes.
  • Create a culture of quality, innovation, growth, and market competitiveness.
  • Create a mindset of continuous improvement in the organization.
  • Enhance the business model by leveraging information and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and create a hard-to-replicate competitive advantage.
  • Lead all aspects of the company and be capable of supporting insights and decisions. Accountable for measurement-based and outcome driven management throughout the business to ensure achievement of the plan and the short-term and long-term business strategy.
  • Effectively make decisions at both the company and department levels, balancing data, insights and experience. Operate as a collaborative partner with the executive team in planning, refining, and implementing growth strategies and policies.
  • Balance being a builder and a leader as we continue to build out the infrastructure, systems, and process as we scale the business. Drive continuous improvement across the company.
  • Present the state of the business to the Board of Directors and executive leadership team exhibiting an executive presence and confidence.
  • Drive long-term business, strategic, and financial planning. Maximize company profitability and enterprise value.
  • Be an exceptional people leader who builds and inspires high-performing teams. Navigate seamlessly between operating as an executive, front-line manager and coach.
  • Balance strategic capability with tactical execution to achieve our strategic and financial goals. Strong hands-on coach with the finesse of setting clear expectations, holding people accountable, leading them through change, and staying focused on outcomes.

Qualifications

  • MBA (preferred) or undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • 15+ years of practical experience and progressive leadership roles; 7+ years as an executive leader in a growth-oriented organization with a proven track record of success managing and growing a business with full P&L responsibility for all functions.
  • Experience in manufacturing and private equity-sponsored organizations preferred.
  • Passionate about the industry and the Company’s business model; ability to inspire internal/external excitement about the Company’s vision & plan.
  • A strong believer in evidence-based decision making, using data to drive opinions and actions across the organization and ensuring management does the same.
  • Experience creating a culture of accountability and productivity across the organization.
  • A hands-on operator who leads by example and thrives in an environment that demands active, visible involvement throughout the business.
  • A respected leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, challenge, and lead an organization by example. Can manage stress and adapt to changing business needs with ease.
  • Self-motivated; capable of taking the initiative and successfully handling and prioritizing multiple competing assignments while managing deadlines.
  • Exceptional business acumen with a strong grasp of market and demand drivers; anticipates market changes and stays tied to evolving customer preferences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build credible and trusted relationships; ability to flex to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong drive and high energy; action and results-oriented.
  • Direct, open, and honest personality with the highest personal ethics and professional integrity; communicates with honesty, directness, and candor.
  • Prioritizes high-value initiatives and ensures teams are focused on the areas with the highest return on financial, time, and people investment.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to and interface with members of the Board on company performance, corporate strategy and policy decisions.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial/ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
